Terms of use

These terms explain how you may use LaneFerry and what our free matching service does and does not do. Please read them before you submit your contact and shipment details or use the site.

What LaneFerry is

LaneFerry helps people who need to ship a vehicle find licensed, insured auto-transport carriers and brokers for their route. Our service is free to the customer. We collect contact details and shipment details, then share that information with matching transport companies so they can contact you about availability, estimated pricing, pickup windows, and transit time.

LaneFerry is a free matching service, not a motor carrier, auto-transport broker, or freight company, and does not move vehicles, broker shipments, or hold FMCSA broker authority. We connect customers with licensed, insured carriers and brokers. The information here is general and educational and is not legal, customs, or insurance advice. Costs and transit times are estimated ranges that vary by route, vehicle, season, and timing — they are not quotes or guarantees. Always confirm the price, pickup window, insurance coverage, and the carrier's USDOT/MC number directly with the carrier or broker, in writing, before you book.

Using the site

You may use the site only for lawful purposes and only to request information or matches for a real vehicle shipment. You agree not to use LaneFerry to submit false details, impersonate another person, interfere with the site, or attempt to access systems or data you are not authorized to access.

When you use our forms, you agree to provide accurate and current contact and shipment details, such as your name, phone number, email address, vehicle type, route, and timing. Do not submit someone else's information unless you have permission to do so.

You must be at least 18 years old to use the service. If you are arranging shipping for another person, a family member, or a company, you are responsible for having authority to share the details you submit.

What you submit to us

To match your shipment, we may ask for contact and route details such as:
- name
- phone number
- email address
- pickup and delivery locations
- vehicle year, make, and model
- whether the vehicle runs
- preferred timing
- transport preference, such as open transport or enclosed transport

We collect contact and shipment details only. We do not ask for financial account numbers, Social Security numbers, or payment details through our matching forms.

By submitting a form, calling, or messaging us, you authorize us to use the information you provide to operate the service and to share your request with licensed carriers and brokers that may serve your lane. Those companies may contact you directly by phone, text, or email about your shipment.

You are responsible for reviewing any offer, terms, insurance information, or shipping paperwork sent by a carrier or broker. Before booking, confirm the final price and pickup window in writing and verify the company's USDOT/MC number and insurance yourself.

Carrier and broker matches

LaneFerry does not select a carrier for you, accept a shipment on your behalf, dispatch a truck, or guarantee that you will receive a certain number of calls, messages, quotes, or matches. A match only means your shipment details may fit a carrier's or broker's route, timing, or equipment.

Any transport service you book is a separate agreement between you and the carrier or broker you choose. Their rates, cancellation terms, payment terms, pickup window, storage rules, and insurance terms are their own. LaneFerry is not a party to that booking contract.

We encourage you to compare options carefully. Watch for common warning signs, including:
- a price far below the other estimates
- pressure to book today
- a large upfront deposit
- refusal to provide a USDOT or MC number
- unclear insurance information

If you need help comparing options, our general guides on what it costs and how to vet a car shipping company may help, but you must still make your own decision.

No guarantees, estimates only

Information on this site is for general education and planning. Any cost examples, route examples, pickup windows, or transit times shown on the site are estimated ranges only. They depend on the route, vehicle size and condition, season, weather, equipment availability, and how flexible your timing is.

LaneFerry does not promise a specific price, exact pickup date, exact delivery date, guaranteed transit time, or guaranteed carrier availability. We also do not guarantee that a carrier or broker will accept your shipment, contact you, or keep a previously discussed estimate.

Site content may be updated from time to time, but we do not guarantee that every page is complete, current, or free of errors. If you rely on any shipping detail to make a booking decision, confirm it directly with the carrier or broker in writing.

Communications and consent

If you contact us or submit a request, you agree that LaneFerry and the carriers or brokers we match to your route may contact you using the information you provide. This may include phone calls, text messages, emails, or voicemail about your shipment request, route, timing, and transport options.

You are responsible for any charges from your phone or internet provider. Message frequency may vary because it depends on the route and the companies that may be available for your shipment.

You can ask us not to contact you again, and you can also tell matched companies to stop contacting you. Stopping marketing or follow-up messages from one company does not automatically stop messages from other companies you may have contacted or authorized separately.

Ownership, site availability, and acceptable use

The site, its design, text, logos, graphics, and original content are owned by LaneFerry or used with permission and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may use the site for personal, non-commercial use related to learning about vehicle shipping or requesting a match.

You may not copy, scrape, republish, reverse engineer, distribute, or exploit the site or its content for commercial purposes without prior written permission. You also may not use bots, scripts, or automated tools to submit forms, harvest data, or disrupt the service.

Liability, changes to these terms, and contact

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LaneFerry is not responsible for losses, damages, delays, missed pickups, storage fees, mechanical issues, insurance disputes, contract disputes, or other problems arising from your dealings with any carrier or broker. Because LaneFerry does not move vehicles or broker shipments, responsibility for transport services, documents, and performance stays with the company you choose and with the terms you agree to with that company.

Nothing on this site creates a partnership, agency relationship, employment relationship, or exclusive arrangement between LaneFerry and any user, carrier, or broker. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts will still apply to the maximum extent allowed.

We may update these terms from time to time by posting the revised version on this page. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.

If you have questions about these terms or how our free matching service works, contact LaneFerry through the contact method listed on the site before submitting your shipment details.
